60 years ago white man was pedigest against colored people. one man stood up and gave colored people hope. He was known as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Now in 2009 another man has made his self known, Barack Obama, the frist black president of America. Could Obama be the next Martin Luther King?
Two great men of history both born in different times. one was born into a world of slavery and predigest in Alabama. Then the other was born free in Kansas. King Dealt with segrigation and the hardships of being colored. Obama had a black father and a white mother and his world everyone was equal.
Obama is living in the world King dreamed of, a world where everyone is equal. Obama has changed the future in our nation, he has become president. That is something we haven’t seen or thought possible to happen in this country. Obama is a symbol to the black community that they can make a difference in this life time.
Obama wants this nation to put aside there differences and unite as one just as king dreamed. Martin Luther gave a speech in D.C. called “I have a Dream.” This inspiring speech talks about the Declaration of Independence and the consitution. He spoke of how these documents should apply to the black community. Obama’s speech “A More Perfect Union” talks of past generations and that he hopes the nation acts as one to make a better country.
During their time these two men were prominent. King was in a world where colored childern couldn’t go to school with white childern. He saw a world with segration, where no colored could share a thing with there white brothers. In Obama’s eyes he sees a country he can lead in to greatness no matter what race you are.
King’s greatness inspired people and gave them hope. He assured them that they deserve more and that they can make a difference. This difference is Obama, he is the change we need. King and Obama have helped change the way people look at the black community. King started a chain reaction with in the black community which eventually brought them to feedom. Then from this freedom rose up a strong black man that could lead this country. 60 years have passed since blacks were slaves to white folk. Martin Luther King gave his inspiring words to the community. Now the next great man has stepped up to make a difference the country needs.
